Obituary of Martha H. McSherry

Martha H. Cywar McSherry, 83, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Friday, August 14, 2015 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Kearny, to the late Adam and Sophie Cywar, she lived there and also in the Holiday City section of Toms River and Brick, residing in Point Pleasant for the past three years. Mrs. McSherry worked at Prudential and later Allstate as a processor. She was a front-desk volunteer at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, for fourteen years and was a communicant of the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman James McSherry, son, Jeffrey McSherry, and daughter, Martha Whittles. Surviving are her daughter, Norma Tortorello and her husband Frank of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are her brother, Adam Cywar; grandchildren, Jennifer Sabolchick and her husband David, Melissa Costantini and her husband Jason, Elizabeth Tortorello, Michael Whittles and his wife Dee, and Steven Whittles and his wife Kristine; and great-grandchildren, Patrick, Brian, Sean, Colin, Connor, and Ashley. Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the ALS Association www.alsa.org in memory of her husband, Norman J. McSherry, would be appreciated.
