Obituary of Jean Griffin

Jean Griffin, 87, of Brick, passed away, Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Born in Newark to the late Emmett and Gertrude Peoples, she lived there and for many years in Bay Head before moving to Brick thirty years ago. Jean was a retired registered nurse and worked for Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital and later for Prudential Insurance, Iselin. She was a member of Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, Bay Head, where she was active with the Boutique. She was predeceased by her husband, Steve Griffin and son, David Applegate. Surviving are her daughter, Carol Applegate and her husband David Kesselman of East Hanover and son, Douglas Applegate and his wife Patricia of Bay Head. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Renee Applegate and her husband Paul Polichino and Sonny Applegate and his wife Dana; and five great-grandchildren, Julia, Sam, Jenna, Kate, and Jordan. Visitation will be from 1 – 3 p.m., Saturday, March 26 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 3 p.m. a memorial service will be held.
