Obituary of Janice Picarell

Janice Picarell, 77, of Point Pleasant, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at her home. Born in Orange to the late John and Helen Picarell she was raised there and has lived in the Point Pleasant area since 1961. Janice was a retired teacher from Brick Twp. Schools. She taught at Osbornville Elementary School and for most of her 30 year career at Veterans Memorial Middle School. She was a graduate of both Our Lady of the Valley High School, Orange, and Newark State College, now Kean University, Union. Janice was a member of B.P.O. Elks, Point Pleasant Lodge No. 1698 and was very active with the Elks Scholarship Fund Committee. She also played basketball for many years at OLVHS. Surviving are two brothers, Larry Picarell and his wife Carmen of Brick and Paul Picarell of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are her nieces, Amy V. Geyer and her husband Jamie and Johanna Picarell; nephew, Michael Picarell; grand nephew, Jack Lawrence Geyer; and many dear cousins, classmates and friends. A memorial visitation will be from 1 – 4 p.m., Saturday, November 5 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where the Elks Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 2:00pm.
