Obituary of James C. Bayard, Jr.

James C. Bayard, Jr., 65, of Brick, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Born and raised in Newark, he has lived in Brick for forty-four years. Jim was a graduate of East Side High School, Newark, and Montclair University. He taught at many schools including East Side High School, Newark, and Ocean County Vocational-Technical School, Brick. He also was a retired construction supervisor for the Township of Brick and served as a commissioner for the Brick Twp. MUA. He owned Bay & Bridge Sunoco in Point Pleasant, and his own home construction business for many years. Jim was a member and Past Master of Durand Lodge, No. 179, F.&A.M., and was a member of Shriners International. Jim had a passion for classic cars and could fix anything. He was predeceased by his father, James Bayard. Surviving are his mother, Lydia Bayard; his beloved wife of forty-three years, Laura (Fischer) Bayard; daughter, Stephanie Bayard; son, James Bayard; and "daughter" Peggy Holmes, all of Brick. Also surviving are his sister, Joan Kwiatkowski and her husband Sam; nephew, Adam Kwiatkowski and wife Danita; great-niece, Julia; great-nephew, Joel; nephew, Matthew Kwiatkowski and his girlfriend Xela; his beloved dog, Chevy; and many wonderful friends. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, January 19 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 7 p.m. a Masonic Service will be held.
