Obituary of Richard W. Heckel

Richard W. Heckel, 71, of Brick, passed away, Friday, January 27, 2017. Born in Montclair to the late Homer and Helen Heckel, he was raised in Bloomfield and lived in Sparta before moving to Brick seventeen years ago. Mr. Heckel worked as an RV dealer and retired in 2003 from North Jersey RV Center, Newton. He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School and served in the United States Coast Guard. An avid bowler, he was a 300 game scorer and NY Giants fan. He also enjoyed golf and had been a starter at Woodlake County Club. His favorite pastimes were boating and spending time with family. Surviving are his beloved wife of forty-eight years, Jeanette (Matistic) Heckel; daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Michael Pausz of Point Pleasant; and grandchildren, Jack, Rachel, and Claire Pausz. Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Gary Stern of Newton; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Patricia Heckel of Toms River; and many nieces, and nephews, and friends. Memorial visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 1 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 7:30 p.m. a memorial service will be held.
