Obituary of Thomas F. Curtin

Thomas F. Curtin, 85, of Bay Head, passed away, Sunday, April 9, 2017. Born in the Bronx to the late Charles Curtin and Loretta Fleming Curtin, he was raised there and lived in New Rochelle, NY before returning back to his summer home in Bay Head in 1991. He was a United States Army, Korean War era veteran and graduate of Fordham University, Rose Hill. At Fordham, he was captain of the tennis team and played in the U.S. National Championships in 1952, later being inducted into Fordham's Athletic Hall of Fame. After a long career in sales with American Cyanamid he started working in Financial PR with his brother in law in NYC. He served on the board of directors of Ocean First Bank as well as the finance committee at Sacred Heart Church and was a founding member of the Bay Head School Foundation. He was a lifelong Giants fan since the days in the Polo Grounds and enjoyed many tailgate parties in Section 18 B. In retirement he enjoyed playing golf with his Glen Meadows group at Jumping Brook golf course. Most of all He loved his Irish heritage, hosting many St. Paddy's Day celebrations over the years. Surviving is his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Mary (Foristall) Curtin. Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Curtin (Barbara), and Kevin Curtin (Anne Healy); and two daughters, Mary Ann Curtin (John Kelley) and Maureen McNally (Peter); eight grandchildren, Katie, Kylie, Christopher, Matthew, Lauren, Reese, Jimmy, and Ryan; and many dear friends. At 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 18 a Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 751 Main Avenue, (Route 35) Bay Head.
