Obituary of Irene Melson

Irene Margaret Melson of Point Pleasant, N.J. passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 to join her beloved husband. Born in Ridgewood, Queens, N.Y., she moved to Point Pleasant from Huntington, N.Y. in 1954, where she and her husband Steven raised their family.

Irene worked a number of local jobs, including Blue Dot Deli, Point Pleasant; Lou's Pastry Shop, Point Pleasant Beach; and King's Grant Inn, Bricktown. Irene's life revolved around her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She stood up for them, sacrificed for them, believed in them, and was always there for them to lend support through difficult times. A firm believer in education, she loved Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, playing the lottery, the Yankees, her home of 60 years, and her cat Josie. She bowled with The Night Owls at 88 Lanes in the 70's and was a member of The Red Hat Society and the Lady Guards Auxiliary of Point Pleasant.

Irene was predeceased by her husband of 58 years Steven P. Melson in February, 2005, her parents, William and Mabel Giller, her sister Loretta Staudt, and her good friend Virginia Michaud, Huntington, N.Y.
