Obituary of Dorothy L. Dunston
Dorothy L. Dunston, 75, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
Born in Philadelphia to the late Gwyn "Pappy" and Dorothy F. Dunston, she has lived in Point Pleasant for most of her life. She was a graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School and enjoyed spending time with her classmates.
Dottie was iconic in Point Pleasant and well known as the founder of the "Dottie Dunston School of Baton Twirling and Dance." She taught many students in the 1960's to the 1980's throughout Ocean and Monmouth counties. Her champion students performed in many competitions, parades, and Crosswicks Cable TV shows. She was also the franchise holder of the "Junior Miss Pageants" and "Our Little Miss."
Later in life, Dottie D. enjoyed taking care of the elderly as a home health aide. She was notorious for riding in convertible cars from her Cutlass Supreme to her Cadillac and Mustang cars.
Surviving are her daughter, Gina Troncone of Point Pleasant and her longtime companion, Bob Salvaryn of Brick. She is also survived by her brother, R.T. "Dick" Dunston; sister, Bibianne Dunston Welk; and she leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gwyn "Dusty" and Robert Dunston.
Visitation will be from 2 – 5 p.m., Sunday, January 28 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m., Monday, January 29 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Saint Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
