Obituary of Daniel T. Collins

Daniel T. Collins, 69, of Point Pleasant, passed away at home, Thursday, April 2, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in New York City, to the late Maurice and Julia Collins, he was raised in the Bronx and lived in Lincroft before moving to Point Pleasant in 2003. Dan was a generous, honest, and decent man who lived a simple but fruitful life. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his summer cabin on Flying Pond in Vienna, ME. Whether tinkering with "projects" or relaxing around a campfire, his biggest joy and comfort was the love his family and friends. Dan retired from Fort Monmouth, where he worked as a financial analyst. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and received his Master's Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was also an active volunteer at the Sea Girt Lighthouse. His love for history made his time spent there meaningful. Surviving are his wife, of thirty-three years, Cindy Roe Collins; and two daughters, Katie and Julia Collins, both of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are his sister, Barbara French; his nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, James and Maurice Collins. Memorial visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m., Monday, Apr. 6 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 5:30 p.m. memories will be shared. In lieu of flowers, donations made in his memory to either the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to the Sea Girt Lighthouse Committee www.seagirtlighthouse.org would be appreciated.
