Henry J. Zawacki (Hank), 95, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
Born in Avoca, PA, Hank lived in Newark and Jersey City before moving to Point Pleasant in 1968.
A World War II veteran, Hank started his post-service career at Ford Motor Company in Metuchen. Since punching a clock was not his forte, he decided to seek an alternate career choice. After working the night shift painting at Block Drug Company in Jersey City, he moved to Point Pleasant and began working for a local builder, eventually becoming a self-employed painter, obtaining work through word-of-mouth throughout the Jersey Shore. He fully retired in his 70’s.
Hank was predeceased by his beloved wife of over forty-six years, Angela Longo Zawacki in 1999.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Birosak and son-in-law, John of Belle Mead. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Lander of Montgomery Village, MD, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Visitation will be held from 3 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 30 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 11 a.m., Thursday, July 1 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, 3800 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant, followed by Interment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
