A. Roger Pyrtko, Sr.
Anthony Roger Pyrtko, Sr., 66, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
Born in Passaic, he lived in Clifton until high school graduation and then moved to the Jersey Shore before settling in Point Pleasant for the past thirty-five years.
Roger worked as a self-employed real estate broker and owned Terry Perko Realtors, Point Pleasant.
He was a member and Ex-Chief of Pioneer Hose Fire Company, No. 1, Brick, and was a New Jersey State Exempt Fireman. Roger was a former member of the Point Pleasant Borough Council and was a member of the Point Pleasant Boro Rotary. He was also a member of the Point Pleasant Borough Chamber of Commerce and Point Pleasant Elks Lodge. Roger holds the key to the city, after March 15, 1997 rescue of a drowning boy, which has since been proclaimed Roger Pyrtko Day.
He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth T. Pyrtko, Sr.; his mother, Teresa “Terry” Pyrtko; and brother, Kenneth T. Pyrtko, Jr.
Roger is survived by two sons, Anthony Roger Pyrtko, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA and Taylor Pyrtko and his wife, Liz of Point Pleasant; and two daughters, Pamela Pyrtko and her fiancée, Bryant Griffith, IV and Paige Pyrtko of Point Pleasant Beach. He is also survived by his sister, Grace DiSabato; four grandchildren, with one on the way; and many dear friends.
Memorial visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m., Thursday, October 28 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 29 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 751 Main Avenue (Route 35), Bay Head.
