Obituary of William J. Ruck

William J. Ruck, Sr., 81, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 15, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Jersey City to the late William & Gertrude (Ackerman) Ruck, he was a life long resident of the Jersey Shore. Bill left Manasquan High School to enter the Merchant Marines in 1944. He graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy and later entered the United States Air Force during the Korean war and was honorably discharged in 1955. His life was enriched by his extended family at Tally's Sales & Service, Point Pleasant, where he was employed as a service manager for forty five years. He was consistently awarded "Five Star" quality awards for outstanding customer service by MOPAR and the Chrysler Corporation. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He was an avid sports fan and golfer. Surviving are his daughter, Diane Quaranta and her husband Robert and his son, William J. Ruck, Jr., all of Point Pleasant. A private cremation has been arranged by the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant. As an expression of sympathy, contributions made his memory to either the Point Pleasant First Aid & Rescue Squad, 611 Laurel Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742 or to the Walter Reed Society, PO Box 59611, Walter Reed Station, Washington, DC 20012-9611, are suggested.
