Obituary of John S. Lupia

John S. Lupia, 79, of Toms River, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009. Born in East Orange, to the late John P. & Theresa (Rizzo) Lupia, he was formerly of West Orange and Verona and has lived in Toms River for eight years. John was a veteran of the Untied States Marine Corps and had worked as a self employed carpenter and independent contractor for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Verona/Cedar Grove Council and the Fourth Degree Assembly and was an avid poker player. John was especially devoted to Saint Jude and communicant of Saint Joseph R.C. Church, Toms River. Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Nicole Marucci Lupia; three children, Diana Beatty and her husband Jason of Silverton, John N. Lupia of Manchester, and Rose Castellane and her husband Alan of Toms River; seven grandchildren, Irma, John, Mary, Michael, Peter, Sarah, and Nicole; and two great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Mia. Friends may visit from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., Thursday, September 24 at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road (732-899-3300) At 10 a.m., Friday a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph Church, Toms River, followed by interment at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. As an expression of sympathy, contributions made in his memory to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, are suggested.
