Obituary of Johanna M. Crescimanno

Johanna Kearney Martz Crescimanno, 87, of Brick, passed away, Monday, September 28, 2009. Born in Bayonne, to the late Matthew and Mary (Walsh) Kearney, she was formerly of Roselle and Clark and has lived in the Brick/Lakewood area for twenty years. Her contributions to our world were endless both civically and spiritually, they include being a member of the Citizens for Kennedy and which led to the honor of attending John F. Kennedys Inaugurational Ball; serving as member and past president of the Altar and Rosary Society of Saint John the Apostle Church, Clark; teaching CCD to students on their journey to confirmation; working at Saint Edmund's Home for Children, Brick; and serving as president of the Heritage Club of Leisure Village East. She was also instrumental in starting the Guitar Folk Mass at Saint Dominic Church, Brick and also instituted Charismatic Prayer Groups at Holy Family and Saint Dominic Parishes, and at her home. She was a communicant of the Church of the Epiphany, Brick. Her first husband, Joseph H. Martz, her second husband, Charles Crescimanno, and her daughter in law, Carol Martz, have predeceased her. Surviving are her five children, Joseph Martz of Key Colony Beach, FL, Christina M. Ciniello of Brick, Bonnie Selleck and her husband Robert of Wall, Mark C. Martz and his wife MaryJean of Brick; and Matthew Martz and his wife Lori of Point Pleasant; one sister, Sister Rita Kearney; ten grandchildren, Lisa, Joseph M., Christopher, Cathleen, Francis, Rachel, Robert, Serena J., Carly, and Evan; and ten great-grandchildren, Michael, Jack, Ella, Greta, Joseph P., Justin, Sara, Maya, Aaron, and Anthony. Friends may visit from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m., Thursday, October 1, at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m., Friday, a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Epiphany, 615 Thiele Road, Brick, followed by interment at Saint Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory made to Odyssey Hospice, 242 Old New Brunswick Road, Suite 140, Piscataway, NJ 08854 are suggested.
