Obituary of Zachary L. Parker

Zachary L. "Jack" Parker, 83, of Brick, passed away, Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Ocean Medical Center. Born in Homestead Farms, NJ to the late Walter and Margaret Parker, he has lived in Brick for sixty three years. Jack was retired from the Township of Brick where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for over twenty years. He was a United States Army, World War II veteran and was a member of the V.F.W., Post No. 8867, Brick. For nearly sixty years he was a member of the Herbertsville Fire Company No. 1 and was also a member of the NJ State Exempt Firemen's Association. His was predeceased by his wife of sixty two years, Marion "Peggy" Herbert Parker on September 5, 2009. He was also predeceased by his brother, Walter Parker and sisters, Florence Tice and Ethel Stowman. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Rager of Toms River and H. Debra Foti and her husband Vincent of Point Pleasant; three grandchildren, Scott Rager and his wife Marion, Shiela Rager, and Dana Foti; four great-grandchildren, Desiree, Joseph, Melissa, and Daniel; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m., Wednesday, October 7 at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. (732-899-3300) At 10:30 a.m. Thursday a service will be held at the funeral home, followed by entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. As an expression of sympathy, contributions made in his memory to Herbertsville Fire Company, 601 Herbertsville Road, Brick, NJ 08724 are suggested.
