Obituary of Bernard S. Turago

Bernard "Bernie" S. Turago, 73, of Toms River, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 9, 2009. Formerly of Irvington, Maplewood, and Point Pleasant, he has lived in Toms River since 1992. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Bernie worked as a police officer for the Township of Maplewood until his retirement. He also worked as a security guard at the Asbury Park Press and Burnt Tavern Rehabilitation Center. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors in general. Son of the late Bernard "Barney" & Madeline (nee Sadowski) Turago, surviving are two daughters, Suzie Lingenfelter and her husband Todd of Medford and Bobbie Turago of Point Pleasant; six grandchildren, Victoria, Alex, Kylie, Delanie, Dominick, and Damian; and his former wife, Eva Turago. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 13 at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 10:30 a.m. a service will held. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
