Obituary of Bernadette Stodolak
Bernadette Mary Stodolak, 69, of Linden NJ, died Monday, September 18, 2017 after an extensive battle with Multiple Sclerosis and a wide variety of health issues.
"Bernie" Stodolak: loving daughter, sister, aunt, godmother and mother was a proud retiree of the Elizabeth Board of Education, where she dedicated over two decades as a Special Education teacher. Bernadette loved art, music and had an eternal quest for knowledge.
The youngest of nine siblings, she was the first to earn a college degree, all while being a single parent to a little girl and holding down several jobs to make ends meet. Resourceful, independent, outspoken, resilient…she enjoyed staying connected with her nieces, nephews and their growing families. Giving to others was a hallmark of Bernadette's spirit as she so devotedly spent some of her last healthy years as a Hospice volunteer, which came full circle as this very same organization accompanied her through her final time here with us.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, most especially, her daughter, Shayna.
Cremation was held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National MS Society www.nationalmssociety.org
