Obituary of Grace Kenney

Grace Kenney, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2017. She was born Grace Margaret Anderson in Easton, PA on February 26, 1922. She married William E. Kenney a Navy veteran of World War II at Saint Luke's Church, Newark, NJ on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1946. They began their life together in East Orange, NJ and had two sons. William E. Kenney was an Essex County Police Officer who was killed in a tragic accident on December 21, 1954. Grace moved with her small children to Point Pleasant in 1964, where her neighbors the Holzapfel family gave her a job at their Wonder Bread business, Wall, NJ. Grace eventually took the civil service exam and was hired in the Accounting Department at Fort Monmouth, where she worked until her retirement more than thirty years later. She is survived by her son, Robert E. Kenney with whom she lived and was lovingly cared for in the last years of her life. She is also survived by her grandchildren, one great grand-daughter, and her brothers, Kenneth Anderson and Robert Anderson. Along with her husband, Grace was predeceased by her brother, James Anderson, her sister, Lillian Anderson, and her son, William Kenney. A special thank you to Mary Ellen, Grace's caregiver and companion during her final year of life. Grace lived a long life, she was quick to smile and will be sorely missed. A memorial gathering will be from 11:30 a.m. -12 Noon, Saturday, November 18 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 12 Noon a service will be held.
