Obituary of Edna M. Nay

Edna M. Nay, 88, of Point Pleasant, NJ passed away December 11, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Chicago, she moved to Point Pleasant Beach in 1964. Edna worked in the Logistics Department at the NJ State Police Training Center in Sea Girt, retiring in 1992. She was proud to be the first woman councilman in Point Pleasant Beach, first elected in 1971, and also served as Police Commissioner. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Edna was predeceased by her loving husband, William J. Nay Jr., and former husband, Edward A. Staunton. Surviving are her loving children, Edward Staunton (Ed Austin), and his wife Leigh of Point Pleasant, daughter Kelly Staunton of Point Pleasant, and Michael and Timothy Staunton. Also surviving are four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four stepchildren, as well as her loving sister, Jean Morgans of Virginia. Friends and relatives are invited to visit Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, 901 Beaver Dam Road, Point Pleasant, NJ on Friday, December 15 from 12-2 pm.
