Obituary of Robert J. Schulz

Robert J. Schulz, 90, of Brick, passed away, Thursday, January 25, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born in East Orange to the late August and Antoinette Schulz, he was raised in Hillside and lived in Clark for many years. He moved to Point Pleasant in 1978 and to Brick ten years ago. Mr. Schulz worked for Kuehne Chemical Company, Kearny, starting in the business office, then sales, and retiring in executive management. He was a United States Navy veteran (1945-1948). He was two term president and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award at the Rotary International, Elizabeth Club. He loved boating, becoming a US Coast Guard Safety Boating Instructor, private airplane piloting, bowling, golfing, and traveling with his wife in their RV. Robert was a skilled carpenter, builder, and "Handyman of the Century." He built or renovated every home he and his family lived in, working on such projects from 1953 until 2008. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and August Schulz; grandsons, Wayne Frevert and David Raabe; and son-in-law, Wayne Frevert. Surviving are his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Georgette Montesi Schulz; and five children, Lynda Schulz of Brick, Thomas Schulz and wife Patricia of Ogunquit, ME, Robert Schulz and wife Linda of Long Branch, Debra McNamara and husband Bob of Jackson, and Jill Frevert of Brick. Also surviving are his sister, Lorraine Principe; nine grandchildren, Travis, Ronald, Curtis, Anthony, Katy, Mae, Peggi, Shea, and Liza; and seventeen great grandchildren. A memorial service is being planned in the Spring, at the Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant. He will be laid to rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, with a military burial service, on Thursday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church, 1120 Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant, NJ 08742.
