Obituary of John P. "Jack" Stephenson

John "Jack" P. Stephenson, 83, of Brick, passed away, on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Born in Plainfield to the late John and Esther (Gay) Stephenson, he moved to Point Pleasant Beach in high school and later to Brick where he has lived for over forty years. Jack was a graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School, Class of 1953, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Jersey Central Power and Light for forty-two years and retired as a troubleshooter. He was an avid sports fan, athlete, and was also very active with cat rescue and feral cat programs in the Lakewood area. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of forty-three years, Eileen Kelly Stephenson; son, John Stephenson; grandson, Sean Stephenson; and first wife, Patricia Stephenson. Surviving are three sons, Donald Stephenson and his wife Teresa, Thomas Stephenson, and Patrick Stephenson and his wife Sandra, all of Brick; and three daughters, Jacqueline Bruno and her husband Michael of Point Pleasant, Kelly Barth and her husband Kevin of Mount Pleasant, SC and Kerry Hernandez and her husband Angel of Lewisville, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Ruben; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Sunday, February 11 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 12 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, 3800 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Saint Anne Cemetery, Wall.
