Obituary of Roy F. Gelsomine

Roy F. Gelsomine, 75, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018. Born in Irvington, he lived in Mendham and Colts Neck before moving to Point Pleasant forty-seven years ago. Roy was retired from 3M, Freehold, where he worked as a warehouseman for thirty-five years. He loved his family foremost, especially his two granddaughters. Roy was a member of the NRA and a firearms enthusiast. He cherished living on the water, was an avid gardener and enjoyed his "Jack and Cokes." He loved all animals, especially feeding the birds in his backyard. He was always there to lend a helping hand to neighbors and had an infectious laugh. He was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Margaret "Marge" (Willis) Gelsomine and brother, Sonny Drape. Surviving are his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Kathy (Ottervanger) Gelsomine; and daughter, Amy Passarella and her husband, Chris, all of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are his granddaughters, Sophia Violet and Tessa Rose Passarella; three brothers, Joseph, Michael, and Randy Gelsomine; his aunt, Pat Fuess; and his canine companion, "Brandy." Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 20 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 21 a prayer service will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
