Obituary of Emidio A. Caruso, Jr.
Emidio A. Caruso, Jr., 91, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away surrounded by family, Monday, February 19, 2018.
Born in Point Pleasant Beach to the late Emidio A. and Bettina (DeFelice) Caruso, he was a lifelong resident and graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School, Class of 1943.
He was a World War II veteran and served aboard the USS Currituck as a Yeoman Second Class USNR.
Mr. Caruso owned and operated Caruso's Dry Cleaning and Tailoring, Point Pleasant Beach. He retired in September 1991.
For seventy five years he was a life member, past president, and Ex-Chief of Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company No. 2 and was chairman of the Point Pleasant Beach Parking Authority and Board of Health. He was a member of Durand Lodge, #179, F.&.A.M., V.F.W., Post 4715, and was a life member and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Point Pleasant. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manasquan.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Rosalie Garrabrant Caruso; brothers, Arnold, Henry, Louis; and sisters, Mayme and Sunnie.
Surviving are his son, Bruce Caruso and his wife Gayle; two daughters, Carol Ann Bates and Barbara Lucas and her husband David; four grandchildren, Ashley Caruso, Steven Caruso, Christopher Lucas, and Catherine Lucas; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Friday, February 23 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m., Saturday, February 24 a service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manasquan, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
