Obituary of Joseph Patrick Lenehan

Joseph Patrick Lenehan, 86, of Columbus, formerly of Point Pleasant, passed away, Thursday, April 26, 2018. Born in Newark to the late John and Helen Lenehan, he was raised in Harrison and moved to Point Pleasant in 1971. He later lived in Forked River, Freehold, and for the past ten years in Columbus. Pat (as called by friends and family) worked as roofer and was a member of Union Local 5, Newark. He retired from the Garden State Parkway where he worked in maintenance. He was a United States Army, Korean War veteran and was an avid hunter. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (DeMarco) Lenehan in 1990. Surviving are his companion, Linda Schultz of Columbus; son, Joseph John Lenehan and wife Cynthia of Little Egg Harbor; and daughter, Joan Sonzogni and husband Matthew of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are his sister, Mary Lenehan; five grandchildren, Christy, Theresa, John Patrick, Matthew Jr., and Michael; and one great-grandson, Donald. Visitation will be from 2 – 5 p.m., Sunday, April 29 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 11 a.m., Monday, April 30 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant, followed by entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
