Obituary of Edward J. Herman
Edward J. Herman, 79, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away, Saturday, May 26, 2018.
Born in Jersey City to the late Edward and Irene (Barrett) Herman, he was raised in Bogota and has lived in Point Pleasant Beach for over forty years.
Mr. Herman retired from the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Lexington and USS Intrepid during Vietnam. After that, he worked as a special education teacher at the Ocean County Vocational Technical School, Brick, for twenty years.
A graduate of Trenton State University, he was a private pilot and member of the Monmouth Area Flying Club, Allaire.
He is survived by his beloved wife, of forty years, Susan (DeVoe Dempsey) Herman; and his sons, Kurt Herman and Edward W. Herman, and his daughter, Nicholee Valentine. Also surviving are his brother, Mark Herman (Julia); three sisters, Deanna Baldeschwieler, Irene Engel, and Barbara Dowling (Douglas); one grandson, Garret Valentine; two step-sons, Wayne Dempsey (Moira) and Guy Dempsey (Carol); three grandchildren, Maeve, Melissa (Stephen), and Christopher; and three great granddaughters, Claire, Piper, and Emma.
Services will be private.
