Obituary of Doris E. Schmidt
Doris E. Schmidt of Lakewood, NJ passed away peacefully at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ on Wednesday May 2, 2018.
Doris was born in Fairlawn, NJ and lived in Paterson, attending St. Paul’s Church and graduating from East Side High School. She married Fred W. Schmidt Jr. in 1952. The couple moved to Chicago where they adopted two children, William and Elizabeth (Lisa). Upon moving back to New Jersey they lived in Madison before moving to Point Pleasant.
Doris was a chiropractic office manager/receptionist for many years in the Point Pleasant area. She was an ‘Open Hearted Person’, accepting all walks of life, who loved family gatherings, dogs, trips to the flea market and collecting dishes. She was an active member of St. Mary’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, serving on the altar guild for many years. She also attended and supported St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Asbury Park, NJ.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred, her daughter Lisa, as well as her sister Thelma and her husband George Willimann, brother Donald and his wife Trudy Burke, and sister Gladys and her husband John Findlay. She is survived by her soul mate Rob, son William and his wife Carole, as well as her grandson Josh and his fiancée Ashley, granddaughters Nichole and Bobby, and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and was especially thankful for Nancy Burke, Linda Bottger, Don and Cindy Burke and many more friends and relatives, some of whom lived far away but sent their love and support every day.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 804 Bay Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
