Obituary of Eugene H. Furlong
Eugene H. Furlong, 88, of Brick, passed away, Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
Born in Avon-by-the-Sea to the late William and Margaret Furlong, he has lived in Brick for the past fifty years.
Gene worked as an appliance repair technician for Sears in Lakewood and Neptune for over thirty years. He also had co-owned a Sunoco station in Wanamassa, with his brother. Gene later was a driver for Wellspring, Brick, and The Plant Lady Florist, Lakewood.
He was a United States Navy, Korean War veteran and graduate of Asbury Park High School.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael; daughter, Anne; brothers, Thomas and Philip; and sisters, Audrey and Shirley.
Surviving are his beloved wife, of sixty years, Linda (Williams) Furlong; and six children, Thomas Furlong of MI, Jeanne Jackson of Brick, Linda Gilbert (Chris) of VA, William “Rat Bones” Furlong of NY, Adam Furlong (Jennifer) of Manahawkin, and John Furlong (Kara) of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are his brother, Niles; sister, Beverly; fourteen grandchildren, Jennifer, Paul, Danielle, Samantha, C.J., Jessica, Melissa, Josh, Luke, Maria, Emily, Chloe, Haley, and Hayden; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 – 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 5, a service will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood.
