Glenn Corbin

Obituary of Glenn M. Corbin

Glenn Michael Corbin, 73, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

Glenn was born in Irvington, NJ, on February 26, 1945 and lived in Point Pleasant for most of his life. Glenn graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School in 1963 and attended East Carolina College before joining the United States Army. Glenn proudly served his country from 1967 to 1972 which included a tour of duty in Vietnam.  Glenn worked alongside his father for several years at Alpha Electric Company in Newark, then worked for Bergenfield Electric and Cooper Electric in Freehold before retiring in 2007.  He played on several Point Pleasant softball teams for many years where he earned the nickname “Smokey” and was a long-time member of Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church.

Glenn was an avid stock car racing fan and collector of beer/vintage memorabilia and license plates. He enjoyed riding his bicycle and walking in town, counting monarch butterflies and boats at the Inlet, and Thursday lunches at Frankie’s Bar and Grill followed by a beer at The Broadway. A friend to all, Glenn will forever be remembered for his selfless generosity and unwavering kindness.

Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Matilda Corbin, and his brother, James.

Surviving are his god-daughter/niece and her husband, Jill and Anthony Ocone; his nephew and his family, Ross and Hannah Corbin and Harrison, Isaac, and Aniina; his sister-in-law, Barbara Corbin, all of Point Pleasant; and a host of cousins, teammates, neighbors, army buddies, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m., Friday, January 18 at Pable  Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, with a short memorial service at 7 p.m.   Family and friends are invited to celebrate Glenn’s beautiful and happy life by watching the tides and the boats on the Point Pleasant Beach side of the Manasquan Inlet at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 19, followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. at Frankie’s Bar and Grill, Point Pleasant Beach.
