Obituary of Maureen S. Foley, PhD, RN
Maureen Sullivan Foley, 77, of Point Pleasant, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Maureen was born and raised in Bayonne and lived in Point Pleasant since 1974. A graduate of Holy Family Academy, Bayonne and Saint Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing, NYC, Maureen continued her education and became the president and CEO of the Bayonne Visiting Nurses Association where she proudly practiced for 48 years serving the community.
Known for her boundless positivity, love of people, storytelling and desire to create laughter, she lived life to the fullest and expected the same of others. Maureen, known as Nana, treasured her five grandchildren, David, Daniel, Maureen, Sean and Ryan, and had a special relationship with each of them. She loved to travel including bringing her children and grandchildren to Hawaii for several memorable vacations. A devout catholic, Maureen was a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at the Church of Saint Martha in Point Pleasant. You were a special person in her life if you made it to her daily prayer list. Upon retiring in 2016 she wintered in Jupiter, Fl with her dear friend Livia Vaiani.
Maureen was the daughter of Marie E. and Leo J. Sullivan and was predeceased by her husband, Vincent G. in 1999.
Maureen is survived by her two daughters and spouses, Regina Foley and Dave Johnson, and Marie Foley-Danecker and Norbert Danecker; and her five grandchildren David Sullivan Halliday, Daniel Foley Halliday, Maureen Quinn Halliday, Sean Foley Danecker, and Ryan Foley Danecker.
Visitation will be held at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, Point Pleasant, on Tuesday, March 12, from 3 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy on Wednesday, March 13, being celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, 3800 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant. Entombment will follow at Saint Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt.
