In the nearly 30 years that I have known you and Anna I have recounted so many stories of you both to countless clients and friends. Your love for one another, coupled with the shear heart-felt joy that you both receive from lending help to others along with the giving of yourselves in thousands of hours of service in your community is without comparison. You have been an inspiration to so many John and have touched the lives of countless more.... Rest in peace my dear friend, you'll be missed but never forgotten.

John was our dear friend. He never refused a request for help on any Elk project we were involved in. I loved taking pictures of his fishing trips with the veterans on the Ideal. His wife Anne was always there, too, in the kitchen or wherever she was needed. John never missed sending us a birthday or Christmas card after we moved to Florida, and a call from him was always something special. Bless you, John, for your kindness, your humor, and your concern for your fellow man. The Point Pleasant Elks Lodge has lost a great treasure!

John will be missed. I meet him over ten years ago at the wedding of his grandson Christian to my daughter Taryn. I always enjoyed having the chance and sit and talk with him. He always had a good story to tell and a smile to share. I will miss him in this life, but we know he will be watching and guiding his loved ones from the other side. May we all be as strong as he was.
Sincerely,
Tom Cooley

My next door neighbor for 18 years. John was the Mayor of Mahoney Drive. A WW2 vet who loved this country. He loved people. A true gentleman. If I ever needed anything...he offered...seemingly before I even asked. We all need neighbors in this life just like John and Annie. Love you both! RIP my good man.

First and foremost I’d like to offer my condolences to the many lives this man has impacted over the amazing life he’s lived. “Poppy John”, as I affectionately called him, was one the most influential people in my young life. I lived next door to them for the first 6 and a half years of my life and in that time they gave me the love and care that many find in a grandparent. I recall fondly sitting at their kitchen table; white lace table cloth with a plastic cover over it, eating vanilla wafers or Vienna cookies with a glass of milk. I remember their dog shadow and the many gadgets and gizmos that were found through out the house that Poppy was always tinkering with. I’m so sad to hear of his passing but I know his legacy and the impact he’s had on others will keep his spirit alive for years to come. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write this.
