Obituary of Jean Norkus
Jean Norkus, 101, passed away, Friday, November 1, 2019.
Jean was the youngest child of Amelia and Clement Shaltis, born May 2, 1918. She had loving memories of her family growing up in Riverside, NJ before moving to Freehold, Colts Neck, and final residents in Toms River. She married “Eddie” December 29th, 1935, shortly after their first date… she asked him out!!!
She was an actress at heart which was revealed in her animated and enthusiastic story telling. She was an artist who enjoyed making homemade cards for her family. She also had a love for gardening, traveling, but most of all singing.
Her greatest joy was the love she had for her family. Her children, Robert and his wife Margaret, David and his wife Gail, Diane, and her husband Charles, Richard and his late wife, Patricia, Marjorie and her late husband, Garrett; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren with the 21st in the oven.
Pure joy is what she was and always will be. Her dedication and persistent loyalty will be her legacy for decades to come. We will love her forever and always.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 6 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 7 a service will be held at the funeral home followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
