Obituary of Jose Fontaniella

Jose Fontaniella, 89, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.

Born in Spain to the late Jose and Genoveva Fontaniella, he lived in California and in Point Pleasant for forty nine years.

He worked as an english professor and a physical education teacher in San Bernardino, CA.  He spent many years studying the Catholic religion in Crocker-McMillin Mansion–Immaculate Conception Seminary. His Catholic faith allowed him to travel the world and learn several languages. He was a devoted communicant of Saint Peter Parish, Point Pleasant Beach.

He was predeceased by his closest cousin, Felipe G. Muina and his niece, Rosa. Surviving are his sister, Nereida Perez; brother-in-law, Anibal; niece, Stella Nieves; Goddaughter, Paula Gonzalez; nephews, Felipe Perez and Arturo Perez; and host of great nieces and nephews whom he adored.

Jose was truly a Man of God. An intelligent, sweet man that devoted his love towards his family.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 28 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Liturgy being celebrated at Saint Peter Church, 406 Forman Avenue, (corner of Saint Louis Ave.) Point Pleasant Beach.  Cremation will be private.
