MaryAnn Damerau

Obituary of MaryAnn Damerau

MaryAnn Damerau (née Schmitt), 79, of Point Pleasant Borough, passed on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

MaryAnn was born on November 11, 1940 in Newark, NJ to the late Anthony and Anna Schmitt and was raised in Union. She later graduated from Union High School and married Richard Damerau.  She and Rick settled and raised their two kids in the “I-Section” of Matawan. After Rick’s passing, she and their children moved to their favorite town of Manasquan. MaryAnn later remarried to Richie Dixon, combined their families, and continued to live in Manasquan until Richie’s passing.  Several years later MaryAnn relocated to Point Pleasant.

MaryAnn had her own business as a Typesetter and later as a Realtor, retiring after thirty years from Coldwell Banker in Wall. She also enjoyed many years helping her kids in their business, ASAP Blinds.

She loved the beach and spent over fifty years sitting on Main Beach in Manasquan.  She also enjoyed the past ten years spending the month of April in Key West and the sound of a Harley-Davidson. MaryAnn was very creative with a passion for gardening, cooking, baking, painting, music, and always dancing.  She had an infectious spirit and smile.

Surviving are her two children, Dawn M. Damerau and wife, Patricia Crowley and Rick Damerau and his wife, Karen, both of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are her stepchildren, David Dixon (Nancy), Dana Genovese (Pete), Louie Dixon (Stacy); and her grandchildren, Clare, Codi, Wyatt, Erica, Edward, Torrie, Abby, Peter, Trevor, Sydney, Amanda, Abbey, and Riley; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Lorelei, Isaac, and Trey.  She will be deeply missed by her partner, Harold Stoppiello; her cat, Holme; and so many of her dear family and friends, both old and new.
