Obituary of Ralph J. Clayton

 

Ralph J. Clayton, 88, of Manchester, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

 

Born in Newark to the late Ralph and Victoria Clayton, he was a long time Point Pleasant resident.  He also lived in Onancock, VA and in Manchester since 2018.

 

Ralph worked as a master carpenter and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 2018. 

 

He was a charter member of Point Pleasant Fire Company No. 2; a former member and past trustee of Holly Baptist Church; and was a skilled decoy carver.

 

He was predeceased by his son, Scott Clayton; granddaughter, Amber MacPherson; and brother, Howard Clayton.

 

Surviving are his beloved wife of nearly sixty-eight years, Helen Brower Clayton; two sons, Bryan Clayton and his wife, Dana of Manahawkin and Gary Clayton of Tacoma, WA; and two daughters, Sharon Clayton of Dunnellon, FL and Merrilee Clayton of Lanoka Harbor.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jessica, Sean, Nicole, Ricky, Courtney, and Skylyn; four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Katelyn, Gavin, and Ethan; and sister-in-law, Joyce Elmer.
