


Obituary of Dorothy Hoffmann
Dorothy “Dot” O’Brien Hoffmann, 93, of Bay Head, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
Born in Elizabeth to the late James and May O’Brien, she grew up in Millburn and raised her family in Springfield, finally moving to Bay Head twenty-eight years ago.
Dot worked at NJ Bell Telephone Company until starting her family in 1958. Dot later worked for many years as a floral designer at Brenner Florist, Millburn; her designs were requested by numerous celebrities and by high end hotels in New Jersey and New York. After retiring Dot provided her design talents for a number of years making floral arrangements for church events. She volunteered for local charitable causes, was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and was a devoted communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head. She was known by her family and friends for her keen sense of humor, artistic talent, strength of mind, body and faith, and devotion to her family. Dot maintained a quiet dignity and sense of integrity that inspired others.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over sixty-two years, Robert K. Hoffmann, and her brother, Raymond O’Brien.
Surviving are her three children, Keith Hoffmann and his wife, Lisa of Middletown, Craig Hoffmann and his wife, Michelle of Point Pleasant, and Janet Hoffmann (and Robert Lott) of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are her sister, Jeanne Harrison; and six grandchildren, Samantha Hoffmann, Dylan Hoffmann and wife Crystal, Morgan Hoffmann, Weston Bargholz, Christopher Hoffmann, and Jessica Hoffmann. She was also the beloved Aunt Dot or ‘D-Dot’ for numerous nieces and a nephew.
Memorial visitation will be from 4 – 6 p.m., Thursday, March 11 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 11 a.m., Friday, March 12 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head, followed by inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. (Facial coverings are required and adherence to social distancing will be in effect.)
