Obituary of Lois Polhemus

On December 1, 2021, Debora Loida Polhemus, went home to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Most people knew her as Lois Polhemus. Lois was five days short of her 97th birthday.

Lois was a long lime resident of Point Pleasant Borough, since 1947.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Polhemus; parents, Dennis and Dolores Tirado; brothers, Zeke and David Tirado; and sisters, Elva and Lolie Tirado.

Lois is survived by her children: Sandra Obre, Summerville, SC, Edward and Phyllis Polhemus, Toms River, and Karen and Ed Wenzel, Port Saint Lucie, FL.  She is also survived by her brother, Reuben and Donna Tirado; sister, Priscilla Smith; nephew, Ronald Smith; and her dear friends and neighbors, Niall and Emer O'Mahoney. Lois also had five grandchildren, Daniel, Leah, Adam, Brian, and Brook; in addition, she was blessed with six great-grandchildren.

Lois was born in Manati, Puerto Rico in 1924 and grew up in Long Branch. She and her husband built and owned State Arena, a roller rink on Route 70 in Lakewood.

Lois loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved Jesus Christ and was thankful that Christ was her Savior. She shared this truth with many people throughout her life time, especially as she often walked the Point Pleasant Boardwalk.  Lois loved gardening, flowers, and had great admiration for her Grace Bible Church Pastor, Randy Smith. She also was an accomplished knitter, crocheter, and dress maker.

2 Timothy 4:7: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

A "Celebration of Life Service," will be held in January at Grace Bible Church, Allenwood.
