Obituary of Joan E. Moynihan

Joan E. Moynihan, 87, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022.

Born in Jersey City to the late James and Rose Butler, she was raised there and lived in Kearny before moving to Point Pleasant over fifty years ago.  Joan was a graduate of the Ocean County College Nursing Program and worked as a Registered Nurse at Point Pleasant Hospital.  After that she was a caretaker and cook for Sacred Heart Parish, Bay Head.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Moynihan and son-in-law, Pete Gagen.

Joan is survived by her four sons and five daughters, Sean Moynihan and his wife, Jill, Ann Moynihan, Kathy Moynihan, Joan Moynihan, Mary Gagen, Mark Moynihan and his wife, Angela, James Moynihan, Bernadette Moynihan, and Patrick Moynihan.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Samantha, Hayley, John, Sam, Luke, Erin, Keri, Maya, and Kelcy, and Tori; and her great-grandson, Beau.

Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 4 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.  At 11 a.m., Thursday, May 5 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head, followed by interment at Saint Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt.
