John Stencel, III

Obituary of John Joseph Stencel, III

John J. Stencel, III “Johnny” of Point Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 12, 2023.  He was only 56 years old.  The family is devastated and shocked by his death.  John was born February 27, 1966, in Point Pleasant to John J. Stencel, Jr. and Barbara J. (Lucas) Stencel.

John is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Keri R. (Gallagher) Stencel and his two wonderful sons, Kyle J. Stencel and Ryan C. Stencel; his parents, John J. Stencel, Jr. and Barbara J. (Lucas) Stencel; his sister, Karen Knipe and her husband, Ken Knipe; and his two nieces, Gabrielle Knipe and Hannah Knipe; and countless other loved ones.  He was predeceased by his Pop-Pop, John J. Stencel, Sr. and Nanny, Veronica (Kolesar) Stencel; and his grandfather, John Lucas and grandmother, Helen (Tuniszewski) Lucas.

John started out as a framer and continued in that career for almost forty years.  He started out working for John Stencel and Son, Inc. working alongside his Pop-Pop and father.  The company was subcontracted for many years by U.S. Homes/Lennar, etc.  Most recently John was working for Michael J. Wright Construction Co., Inc.  John’s passion was to build houses from the ground up.  He accomplished this by owning Comfort Homes, Inc. and Optimum Home Builders, LLC.  Through these companies and by using top notch material he built some of the best constructed homes.

John loved and was so proud of his two sons.  He enjoyed joking around with them and pulling pranks.  John left every morning for work with a piece of cake and grape Kool-Aid (juice).  His love of Sundae’s ice cream cakes can’t be matched, one circular cake was about four servings.  His favorite vacations were spent on Royal Caribbean Ships.  He enjoyed taking his motorcycle out for long rides.  He loved boating, fishing and hunting in his spare time.  Back in the day he loved taking his Robalo out to the F-Cove and meeting up with friends for some fun in the sun.  He also loved going out on Tony and Michael’s boats to the Hudson and the Canyon to fish for tuna.

John will be missed! May he rest in peace.
