Obituary of H. Earl Blackman

H. EARL BLACKMAN, 94, of POINT PLEASANT, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Lakewood, to the late Robert L. & Mina Horner Blackman, he was raised there and has lived in Point Pleasant for thirty years. A World War II veteran, Mr. Blackman served in the United States Air Corps and was in the Normandy Invasion. He worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty-six years, retiring as assistant postmaster of the Lakewood office. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Robinson Blackman. Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Susan Blackman of Point Pleasant; two sons, Jan Blackman of Bedminster and Robert Blackman of CA; his niece, Mina Latham; and four grandchildren and their families, Dawn, Dana, Sean, and Jaimie. Friends may visit the family from 2 - 5 p.m., Monday at THE PABLE - EVERTZ FUNERAL HOME OF POINT PLEASANT, 901 Beaver Dam Road (732-899-3300.) At 10 a.m., Tuesday a service will be held, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
