Obituary of Lois B. Crannell

LOIS CRANNELL, of Greenbriar I, BRICK, died Sunday, November 23 in her home surrounded by those she loved. Born in Elizabeth on August 31, 1928, Lois graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth and also attended Union County College in Cranford. She married Alfred C. Crannell on June 12, 1948. The couple have been married for sixty years. Lois worked for a time at Standard Oil Engineering, Bayway and for Anesthesia Associates at Elizabeth General Hospital. She was a coordinator for the Visiting Homemakers of Ocean County; worked at Point Pleasant Beach High School; and the House of Hearing Aids, Point Pleasant, before retiring to Greenbriar with her husband where she was a past member of the Greenbriar Bowling League and the Greenbriar Kiwanis. Lois is survived by her husband, Alfred; three daughters, Susan Crannell of New Mexico; Alyson Swetits and her husband Pete; and Beth Crannell, all of Point Pleasant. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Colleen Crannell, also of Point Pleasant, who was married to Lois and Alfred's son, David Crannell, who predeceased his mother. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Vincent Julian, Ryan & Devin Crannell, Peter, Matthew, Caitlin, and Robert Swetits; and one great-grandson, David Julian, all of Point Pleasant. Lois also leaves one sister, Lucille Ward of Point Pleasant Beach. A visitation will be held from 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., Tuesday at THE PABLE - EVERTZ FUNERAL HOME OF POINT PLEASANT, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 11 a.m., Wednesday services will be held at the funeral home with Pastor John Helm, presiding. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. Her grandsons and great-grandson will be her pallbearers. After Lois became ill, her motto was "I am going to live as if I am living." This will be just a part of her lasting legacy.
