Obituary of George F. Schildknecht, Jr.

GEORGE F. SCHILDKNECHT, JR., 80, of POINT PLEASANT, passed away on Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Newark, he was a life-long resident of Point Pleasant. Mr. Schildknecht worked as a master carpenter and was a life member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenter's and Joiners. He was a member of Ocean County Local 2018, Lakewood and Monmouth County Local 2250, Red Bank. He was a former Vice President of Ocean County Carpenter's Local 2018; a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons, Durand Lodge #179, F.A &M., Point Pleasant for 45 years; a member of American Legion Post 196, Point Pleasant Beach; a Canteen Member of VFW Post 4715, Point Pleasant Beach; a Life Member of the Ocean County Firemen's Relief Association; a Life Member of the Ocean County Exempt Firemen's Association; a Life Member of the New Jersey State Exempt Firemen's Association; Ex-chief of Point Pleasant Fire Company #1, 1959-1960; Co-Founder and First President of the West Point Pleasant Exempt Firemen's Association and Past President of the West Point Pleasant Firemen's Relief Association. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Bay Head. He was predeceased by his sister, Edna Applegate. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Kathleen Covert Schildknecht; two daughters, Lynda MacDonald of Brick and Kathie Pearce De Ponte and her husband, Tony, of Howell; one grandson, Brian J. Crammer of Howell; one great granddaughter, Lexxi Crammer of Howell and many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m., Friday, at THE PABLE - EVERTZ FUNERAL HOME OF POINT PLEASANT, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 3:00 p.m., Saturday, a funeral service will be held at the funeral home. Interment will be at Whitelawn Cemetery, Point Pleasant. As an expression of sympathy, contributions made to Point Pleasant Boro First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 3, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742 are suggested.
