Obituary of George W. Morris

GEORGE W. MORRIS, 81, of WHITING, Manchester, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Point Pleasant, to the late William & Anna O'Dell Morris, he was raised and lived there for most of his life. He also had lived in Hawley, PA and in Whiting for the past five years. A mechanic by trade, George was the owner and operator of Beaver Dam Motors, Point Pleasant. He later worked for the Borough of Point Pleasant, Department of Public Works for ten years. He was a Untied States Army, Korea veteran and was an honorary member of the Point Pleasant Boro Fire Company No. 2 Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, of nearly fifty-eight years, Gloria Smith Morris; his son and daughter-in-law, William & Micki Morris and his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy & James Scott, all of Point Pleasant; his granddaughter, Amanda Grace and her husband Kyle; two grandsons, James Scott and his wife Jaime Lynn and Joseph Scott and his fiance Jillian Bruno; his great-granddaughter, Meghan; and his great-grandson, Braden. Friends may visit from 4 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 4th, at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road (732.899.3300), where at 7:30 p.m. a service will be held. Cremation and interment at the Harvey Memorial Church Garden will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy, contributions made to either the Point Pleasant Boro Fire Co. No. 2, or the Point Pleasant Historical Society are suggested and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
