Obituary of Salvatore J. Scarito

SALVATORE "TED" SCARITO, 96, of POINT PLEASANT and GREEN BROOK, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2009, at home. Born in New York City, to the late Sorow & Mary LiPoma Scarito, he lived in Bayonne and summered in Point Pleasant, moving there permanently in 1974. Mr. Scarito was a retired auto mechanics teacher from Bayonne High School and authored several automotive text books. He was a former member of the Point Pleasant Borough Zoning Board; former trustee of the Bay Head Shores Property Owners Association; and was a communicant of the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant. He was predeceased by his wife Florence Sedlak Scarito; his son, Thomas Scarito; and by his sister, Rose Zito. Surviving to cherish his memory are three daughters, Dolores Sestito and her husband Nicholas of Interlaken, Donna Matta and her husband Joseph of Point Pleasant, and Christina Sleckman of Toms River; his beloved companion, Helen Smith; his brother and sister in law, Joseph & Lillian Scarito; three sisters, Agatha D'Amico, Veronica Bower, and Eugenia Scarito; ten grandchildren, Nicholas, Donna, Lisa, Marc, Christopher, Jason, Scott, Michael, Anthony, and David; and ten great-grandchildren, Dylan, Aiden, Nicholas, Gianna, Jade, Cody, Shane, West, Anthony, and Joseph Friends may visit from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m., Monday a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant. Cremation will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to the Saint Vincent dePaul Society at Saint Martha Church, 3800 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742, are suggested
