Obituary of William B. Dickerson

William B. "Uncle Bill" Dickerson, P.E., L.S., P.P., 86, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away, Thursday, July 16, 2009 at home. Born August 17, 1922 in Dunellen, to the late Fred and Vivian (nee Dunn) Dickerson, he grew up there and has lived in Point Pleasant Beach for many years. Bill was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. In 1952 he graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in Civil Engineering. A professional engineer, land surveyor, and professional planner, Bill had served as the Municipal Engineer and Director of Public Works for the Township of Freehold. He was a member of Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, Bay Head. Surviving are his loving wife, Margaret A. Walker Dickerson; and his daughter, Dian Jackovino and her husband David of Lavallette. Friends may visit from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m., Tuesday at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 11 a.m., Wednesday, services will be held at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, West Lake and Bridge Avenues, Bay Head. www.stpaulsbayhead.org Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
