There isn't a kid who went to Ocean Grove Middle School who didn't know and love Mr Shannon. He was always smiling and friendly and ready with an encouraging word. If we did well - or just needed a lift up - he'd reward us with unpainted ceramics he made. He gave me an Indian head in 1972 which l kept until it broke maybe ten years ago. My sister and I still recall him fondly. He was truly a great man and a fine example to all who knew him. He will be missed. The world's loss is Heaven's gain.

Mr. Shannon was always such an encouraging, lovely man while he was working at the Ocean Grove Middle School. Such a sweet personality! I was one of the young people that he gave his plaster creations to...I even got them when I'd visit his house on Halloween :-) There were times when I had things that troubled me, and I'd talk with Mr. Shannon about them. He always had great advice for me, and would tell me cute jokes to make me smile (I still tell his little jokes to others). He always had a smile for everyone, and he is one of the best memories I have of that school. Amazingly enough, I was just telling a client yesterday about my memory of him...and I only found out today he had passed. Sending love and condolences to his family and friends <3

Mr. Shannon equals art thru compassion. He was my neighbor three doors down in Ocean Grove as a kid. Always an open door to visit and a smile. My 3 sisters and I would haunt him daily and he never seemed bothered. I loved painting the ceramics in the basement and I believe we still have a few pieces at my Mom and Dad's house. I am not shocked at is legacy and aim to live as such a caring individual. He is an absolute gem.
