PLEASE NOTE: IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WISHES OF MRS. BIRKNER, FUNERAL SERVICES HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO PRIVATE. Anna E. Visco Birkner, 88, of Point Pleasant, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016. Born in Weehawken to the late Harry and Georgina Visco she lived for many years in West New York and in Point Pleasant since 1960. Mrs. Birkner had worked as a secretary at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown. She was a volunteer at Saint Gregory's Pantry, Point Pleasant Beach, and was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alvin Birkner; daughter, Jean Oppel; brother, Charles Visco; sister, Elsie Kalajian; and granddaughter, Christina Riddle. Surviving are her daughter Dr. Linda Birkner Griska and her husband Dr. Joel Griska of Penn Valley, PA. Also surviving are her brother, Harry Visco; three grandchildren, Dr. Adam Griska, Jordan Griska and Amy Mancino; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan Mancino, Tristan Riddle, Lincoln-Brian Riddle, and Berkeley Griska. Services and inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle, will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory to Saint Gregory's Pantry, 804 Bay Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742, would be appreciated.
