Obituary of Mary "Mae" Rose Rath

Mary Rose Campbell Rath, known as Mae, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday March 27, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center. Last residing at Greenbriar Village in Brick she was formally a long-time resident of Point Pleasant where she was a member of Saint Martha's Catholic Church. She was born August 18, 1934 in Bayonne, graduated from Holy Family Academy in 1952, married John Rath of Bayonne in 1956, and moved the family to Point Pleasant in 1966. Mae was a good friend to all, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. She worked as a state employee at the Ocean County Health Department in Toms River and loved spending time with her family and friends. Mae was predeceased by her beloved husband, John "Jack" J. Rath; her parents, William and Elizabeth Campbell, and their eldest son, her brother, Jackie. She is survived by her three brothers and sister and her four children, Lisa & Seth Callahan of Virginia, John & Grace, Robert & Martha and Colin & Cherie all of New Jersey. Her nine grandchildren, Timothy, Elizabeth, Daniel, James, Thomas, Samuel, Connor, Christian and Rylee; and a great grandson, Noah L. Wentzel. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30th, at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, 08742. At 9:30 a.m., Friday, March 31st, a Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Saint Anne Cemetery, Wall.
