Obituary of Florence M. Cole

Florence M. Cole (nee Gorman), 94, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

Raised in Belleville, Florence graduated from Belleville High School in 1946 and went to work at Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company, Newark. She met and married, Walter Cole, a United States Marine and fireman. They lived in Belleville until 1980 when the family moved to Bay Head Shores, Point Pleasant.

Florence was president of the Bay Head Shores POA Ladies Auxiliary for many years and was active with the BHSPOA shuffle board team and one year played Mrs. Claus with her husband as Santa.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter; daughter, Mary Jane; and brother, John Gorman.

Florence is survived by her sons, Walter, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Arthur and his wife, Pauline, Steven, and Christopher; and daughter, Susan Cole. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Spatz and his wife, Mary; granddaughters, Kristen and Kellie; and granddog, Fender.

Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m., Monday, November 28 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.
