Obituary of Sterling Hulse

Sterling Hulse, 83, of Laurelton, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Ocean Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Laurelton, to the late Eugene and Rena Hulse, he was a lifelong resident. Sterling was Class of 1947 Point Pleasant Beach High School graduate and was later inducted into their Hall of Fame. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. For thirty-eight years he worked for Jersey Central Power and Light Company and retired as a supervisor in 1990. Mr. Hulse was very active with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 60, Osbornville, for over forty years, and was awarded the Silver Beaver for his distinguished leadership and service. He also was a vigil member of the B.S.A. Order of the Arrow; served on the Brick Twp. Shade Tree Commission; and attended Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ansel, Raymond, and Linden; and sisters, Hilda and Alice. Surviving are his beloved wife, of fifty-seven years, June F. Wardell Hulse; his son, Sterling Hulse; and his daughter, Gail Hulse, all of Brick; two sisters, Lela Lowenberg and Cleona Smith, both of Howell; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, a service will be held at Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church, 1120 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Laurelton Baptist Cemetery.
