Obituary of Patrick J. Ryan, Sr.

Patrick J. Ryan, Sr., 74, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 29, 2013. He was born in Summit on March 25, 1939 and raised his family for thirty-seven years in Chatham Township before retiring to Point Pleasant in 2003. Patrick was a proud, 56 year member of Steamfitters Local Union No. 475. He was extremely family oriented and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, of fifty-three years, Catherine R. Ryan and their four children, Patrick J. Ryan, Jr. and his late wife Helen, Timothy J. Ryan and his late wife Sharon, Edward F. Ryan and his wife Diane, and Margaret R. Hostutler and her husband Scott. Also surviving are eight brothers and sisters, Catherine Keating and husband Robert, Elizabeth Kane and husband Ronald, Mary Jupin and husband John, Edward Ryan and wife Barbara, James Ryan and wife Jane, Margaret Ryan, Nancy Suchniak and husband Joseph, and Daniel Ryan and wife Karen. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Eddie, Julie, Matthew, Brianne, Ryan, Jenna, Brielle, and Chris. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, a Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
